Singing Family

I was singing my sentences, as I often do, as I was folding laundry.
Ethan sang, asking if he could help.
I sung that he could help put the clothes away,
but to go clean his room while he was waiting.
Ethan sung no.
Daddy sung 5..4..3..2..

Ethan:

Stop singing already!

I'll clean my room!

Josalind's first day of grade 1

I asked Josalind how her day at school went. She told me that someone had thrown rocks at her. I said, "That's horrible! Did you tell a teacher?" "No, my best friend told that person to stop and they did." I asked her who her best friend is.

She looked at me like I should know this.

"Aleena. She told me I was her best friend today."

And apparently I should have known this.

Conversation on the way home today

We are driving home. A gravel truck is slowing down in front of us.

Lindy: "Pass him, Mom!"

Mom: "I can't. He's turning left. He would smack right into us."

Lindy: "Then we would be flat as a pancake?"

Mom: "Yes, I suppose we would."

Lindy: "Will we still be flat in heaven?"

Mom: "No, we will get new bodies in heaven."

Ethan:

"I want mine blue!"

The unveiling of another masterpiece

You pull out your blank canvas and you think long and hard about what this painting will be. You bring out some colors and start to paint. You add some reds, some blues, you mix some colors together and it magnifies the beauty of your painting. The painting is coming together wonderfully and you are pleased. You stand back and view it for a while. It needs more orange here, a swoosh of green, and a dab of purple. There. It is done. It is another masterpiece! You take it to the art gallery and await the grand unveiling. You are standing next to your work of art, eagerly awaiting the reactions of the people that have come to view your masterpiece. You have put your heart into this creation. You take a deep breath as they all gather around.

And then you hear it. A boo. Your heart breaks. All the effort you've put into the painting is swept away with that one action of disapproval.

And you must do it again tomorrow.

This is suppertime at my house. It's no wonder Lindy is so skinny.

Big Changes for my big kids!

Josalind has been in kindergarten for a week now and she's really enjoying it! She tried out the bus, but really didn't like the 1hr ride to town. She's also been doing piano and ballet!

Ethan starts playschool today! It's so weird to have BOTH my kids in school! Ethan has also been doing really well in piano class!

How smart are you?

I took the test and I have an IQ of 94

The national average is 100. I'm somewhat embarrassed!

Back to School Grocery Shopping

Yesterday, Trevor took the kids for the entire day and I got to have a day off! I walked around Walmart, went into Lots-a-Books, and then got the groceries.

Grocery shopping has never before intimidated me. Josalind starts full-time kindergarten this week, which means she will need lunches. I spent 2 hours in the grocery store, making sure I got everything that she will be needing. I was so stressed out, I almost started crying!!!

I guess it seems sort of silly today.

HE DID IT!!!

Ethan pooped on the toilet!!!

I didn't even ask him to. He was playing toys with Josalind in her room, when all of a sudden I heard someone sit on the toilet. I heard Josalind playing in her room, so I ran to the bathroom. . .
and there was Ethan sitting on the toilet - he had done a poop!

I hope this is the start of him being 100% completely potty-trained.

Flashback

Thursday, July 05, 2007

Where has the time gone!?!

I have so much to get accomplished and I feel like I'm in crunch time!

I have to finish the scrapbook for my Grandparent's 50th anniversary in 2 weeks! I have to finish the piano song for it as well!

I have get ready for Ladies Time Out at the church. I'm in charge of the kids, and I have so many great ideas, now I have to get cracking to turn them into a reality!

Hmmm. . . it really doesn't seem that impossible when it's in writing right in front of me. I can do this!

Kids Say The Darndest Things

Ethan had to go to the bathroom at the mall yesterday, while we were getting our groceries. So Josalind, Ethan, and I headed towards the bathrooms. We get there and Ethan wants to go in the men's bathroom. I explain to him I can't go in there because I'm a girl and he has to go in the girls bathroom with me.
His response?

"You're not a girl.

You're a Mom!"

I HATE Wasps!

I got my first (and second) wasp bites of the year. I was cleaning out fallen branches in the bushes, and must have ticked off a couple of wasps. I knew what it was the minute they stung, too. After my traumatizing experience last year, I know far too well what wasp stings feel like. It's like pricking yourself on a prickle bush, but it doesn't stop.

So, to reiterate:

I HATE WASPS!!!

Through the eyes of a child

Josalind and I went to Amber's baby shower for her cute, little boy, Jacob. As soon as we got there, she realized there were no toys, so I gave her my camera to keep her occupied. Here are some of the shots she took. I think I've got a budding camera pro!

Spring = Work

I LOVE this time of year! It means I can finally get out into the yard and get to work landscaping. Yesterday I dug up the rest of our walkway, filled it with gravel, and put down the last 8 sidewalk blocks. It feels SO GOOD to have that done! Today I'm hoping to rake out the front yard. We'll see how much time I have after Lindy's piano this afternoon. . .
And this weekend, Trevor and I are FINALLY making a dog run! It's going to be HUGE! I'm so excited! Trevor's been drawing up the plans for the REALLY BIG doghouse he's going to make. Each dog is going to have their own little room! I love how organized he is.

Garage Saling

Lindy and I went out this morning to get in on the first garage sales of the season. There weren't very many, but the experience was sure fun! Josalind was having so much fun. We got a little box of Timbits and we toured around town, looking for the garage sales. We ended up getting a little plastic slide and a new nintendo game. I was very pleased with my purchases. I also got an old friends phone number from Tim Hortons today! I'm gonna give her a call next week!

Road Trip

The kids and I had such a fantastic day today! We packed their backpacks full of toys and went on a fun, little road trip! I wanted to visit a friend in Marwayne and meet her baby boy. When we arrived, I learned she was very pregnant with another. I love the look of pregnant! It just gets me so excited! We spent a couple hours there and then headed on back home. Ethan slept while Lindy and I discussed everything we saw as we travelled. It was so much fun!

It's here!

Trevor called to say he just picked it up, so I raced out to find him and bring the game system home! The kids and I ran out to the van - me in my p.j.'s, lindy in a housecoat and pajamas and ethan, well, he was still wearing his superman shirt (I can't get that thing off of him!)

The kids are playing pac-man. I think I'm gonna try out the original Mario. Gotta go!

Still Waiting...

NEW FC Twin Super Nintendo & Nintendo System NES SNES

I ordered it off Ebay last week, and I'm hoping it will be in soon! I've got 15 or 20 Nintendo games that I can't wait to play!

I blame spring!

I have to apologize for being away so long. I blame it on this beautiful weather we've been having! The kids and I have been out enjoying our days. I'll do a mega update. Here we go:

Trevor got a new job (It's in town!)
He also got himself a dog.
I made cheesecake on Wednesday. (It was really yummy)
I found a Superman shirt at Cheepers for Lindy. (Now she matches her brother)
I have no free space on my digital camera. I have to get my pictures developed!
I've been working on my Mom's parents 50th Anniversary Scrapbook.
Josalind had her birthday on Tuesday. Her party was last Friday.
Trevor's birthday is coming up right away.

Motherly Instincts

You know you've seen too much puke when it's as instinctive to grab a puke bucket at the mere look on a child's face as it is to grab a kleenex before they sneeze.

Greatest Movie Line Ever!

Trevor was watching Dodgeball last night, while I was making cookies, and I've come to the conclusion it holds the greatest movie line ever:

Time Out from our Sick Day

I convinced Lindy to come outside with me and enjoy the warm sunshine. She's been sick since last night, but has luckily kept everything down since this morning. I have yet to convince her to eat anything but at least we got some fresh air. And in the process we made these super cute snowmen!

Too Much Winter!

There comes a point in every winter where I'm just ready for it to be done! I know I'm not the only one who feels this way! I passed 9 vehicles in the ditch this morning. One was on the outskirts of town, one just past the welcome sign, 4 seemed to have been involved in an accident (don't worry, it looked like no one was hurt!), and the other three were spaced apart randomly.

Foreign Telemarketers

I just called about my Visa, which should have arrived by now. The lady on the phone seemed very helpful. . . if only I could understand what she was saying. I guess I was preapproved for a credit card, but it was never sent out. So she asked if I wanted it to be for more money, but I said no. I just want the minimum amount - just to say I have credit. But then she kept talking, and I'm really not sure what happened or what my limit now is. But she will send out a brochure. Then she went on about our bank accounts and how we're paying too much in monthly fees. She said she will fix it and send out a brochure. Then tried to convince me to open up a savings account. I think I might have opened a savings account. . . I'm not sure. But she's sending out a brochure. Then she tried to convince me to get their line of credit. I'm said no, but she's sending out a brochure anyway.

I'm not entirely sure what she signed me up for but apparently I'll found out in appoximately 3 business days.

Yesterday's MRI

After telling Amber how my MRI went yesterday, I realized I should probably blog it. It really was quite funny!

When I first got in for my MRI, there were a couple older men there waiting for theirs. I must have looked absolutely terrified when it was time for the needle, because the kind older man sitting next to me was telling me it's not that bad. The man putting the needle in my arm was reassuring me the entire time. It was the least painful needle I've ever had. I have no idea how he gave me a needle that didn't hurt!

As I was sitting in the waiting room, another older man coming out from the MRI room looked at me and told me "It's not difficult, you'll do fine". At which point I told him I've had them done before but thank you for your kindness. So he wished me "Good luck"

I went in for my MRI and the poor man doing the MRI was probably getting really annoyed with me. It started off fine. He turned on the music, stuck me in the machine, and went off to the side room. The music starts playing, and I'm getting really into it. I start twitching my toes to the music, then my feet start swaying back and forth - then he turns on the speaker "Excuse me ma'am. Could you please keep your legs still." So I was still. Mostly still. Then I got bored again. I started making faces in the machine. I'd go cross eyed, puff up my cheeks, stick my tongue out. It made me giggle a little - then the speaker goes on again "Excuse me, ma'am. Could you stay very still. We're going to have to start over and try again. The last set came out fuzzy." So it was twice as long as it should have been.

With any luck, they won't want me back so soon, next time!

Fun in the City!

Trevor and I are headed out to the city tomorrow afternoon. We'll be there in time for supper, where we're going to meet Krys and Dave. Then we're going to go back to our hotel and enjoy the swimming pool! I'm so excited!

Although, the real reason we're going to the city is for my MRI on Monday. I really hope they don't have to stick me with any needles this time - although that might just be wishful thinking. . . We'll see. . .

I'm so pithed off!

It's so hard to take someone with a lisp seriously. Trevor and I are watching Supernanny and the mom is getting so angry. She looks right at the camera and says the words I'm going to be quoting for a week:
"I'm so pithed off!"
It was too funny!

Happy Birthday Joanne

Thank you for letting me crash your birthday party! I had such a great time last night! The kids and I stopped by her house last night, after work, to wish her a happy birthday and give her a present and we were invited to join her birthday celebration! It was a great time!

I just found out that Passions will be cancelled by fall. I've been watching since 2000 and I can't believe NBC is going to end it! I've found a video to leave you with.

Ode To My Husband

It's been almost two weeks since my husband left and I'm starting to miss him quite terribly. So, here is my ode to him:

My husband is, without a doubt, the most wonderfully amazing man I have ever met. He loves me and my children. He has never failed to provide for us. He always returns my calls. He makes sure all the little things are done - garbage is out, bills are paid, laundry is done and put away. We have never been out of laundry soap, dish detergent or milk. He always kisses me goodbye before he leaves for work. He gives great snuggles and even rubs my feet. He enjoys looking through my scrapbooks and compliments my many craft projects. He prays for us daily.

But, most importantly, I love the man he is. I love his smile, his laugh, the sparkle in his eyes when we're together. I love you, Trevor. I look forward to seeing you again soon!

Saddam Hussein Hanged

Saddam Hussein was hanged this morning. I understand that he did horrible things, but I am still saddened by the news. I absolutely DO NOT agree with any form of the death sentence. I think he would have been better punished to be locked up in jail for the rest of his life.

Big Changes Coming

Only one more week until Trevor starts his new job. He'll be gone for a month and he says there may not be celphone service where he's going. I bought LOTS of craft paints to keep me busy, now I just need something to paint. I checked Walmart and the Dollar Store, but there are no unfinished wood projects. Does anyone know where I could find something to paint?

CHRISTMAS: Take 1

Today we are celebrating Christmas at my parents house. This will be my first Christmas that I won't be celebrating with my family, so we are having it a week early. Next week we will be at Trevor's Mom's house. Have a great day! I know I will!

Wow! Amazing!

I've been checking out my Dad's new webpage, and I just wanted to show off the amazing job my Uncle Brian did putting it together! Check it out!

Sorry Tanya

I've realized I mention my brother far more often than my sister. The reason for this is probably because I rarely see her now that I no longer live at home. I see my brother every day I'm at work, so I talk about him often. Therefore, I feel the need to apologize. Tanya, I'm sorry. Now, to everyone reading this, I have a sister. I know she's never been mentioned, so HERE is a link to her myspace. Go check it out.

HILARIOUS!!!

I know it's a really old song, but have you ever been able to understand the words from MmmBop by Hanson? Me neither. But the creators of THIS video seem to have finally figured it out!

My First Publication!

I made up a flyer for Dad's store to be advertised in the paper on Tuesday. I'm very excited! I'm just finishing up the final touches now.

Spoiled Puppy

Eddison has quite enjoyed the adjustment to indoor dog. He now sleeps at the foot of our bed. It's so nice to have an indoor dog again! I've even brought him over to my parents' place a couple of times. Eddison and Tiffy get along real well! He is one very spoiled puppy.

Trevor's New Job

Trevor now has a new job lined up. He's been wanting to change careers for a little while now, and he seems to have gotten a foothold on a good one. We should have our debts paid off in 6-9 months with this new job. He starts his new job right after the New Year. He will be surveying up in the Arctic. I still wonder why we need surveyers up there. I mean, does anybody actually live up there? But, that's what this job does and he's excited about it. Now all we need to do is find him some woolly socks and toasty long johns.

Revising the Tradition

I've recently come to realize the Christmas tradition I never realized I had. Every Christmas, my brother and I go out last-minute Christmas shopping together. I remember going out on Christmas Eve on more than one occasion. One year I bought a cheap remote control truck from the dollar store because there was nothing left. Well, this year it looks like we're revising our Christmas tradition because we're going out today. I'm very excited. I'll be leaving soon. I have to warm up the van first. Have a great day! I know I will.

The Santa Dilemma

The kids and I have been to 2 Christmas parties in the last week. Both parties have had a Santa for the kids. I understand that Santa is important to a lot of kids. I don't want to have kids that go around telling others that Santa doesn't exist. I would hate to break other kids' hearts. But I don't want to teach my kids that Santa brings their presents. Josalind knows that Trevor and I work to pay for things such as groceries, vacations, and Christmas presents. She knows we're going to have a small Christmas this year. I'm really not sure how to handle this whole Santa dilemma. Both times, the kids were told they would get a treat bag from Santa if they sat on his lap and told him what they want for Christmas. Josalind wanted to do it. She told Santa she wanted a yo-yo. Then she got her treat bag, then she asked me who Santa is. I told her he's just a man dressed up as Santa because it's fun for kids to tell him what they want for Christmas. What would you do with your kids when it comes to Santa?

Scary Monster

Ethan has decided there is a monster in his bed. He screams when he goes to bed. He screams when he wakes up in the morning. This isn't just a "I don't want to go to bed" scream - this is a seriously terrifying scream. I run to his room every time I hear it and he's just hysterical. We put a super bright night light in there, so we'll see if that helps.

Lindy's First Piano Recital

Josalind had her very first piano recital last night. She was great! She had so much fun watching the other kids, too. She was so excited while she was on stage. She was all grins and giggles. She is definitely a fantastic performer!

I'm so pleased!

We loaded up 20 straw bales and made our animals outdoor area nice and cozy! We even have a spot for a doggy welcome sign by the front door. There's lots of room for me and the kids to roam inside it, too! Who needs a tree house when you have a doggy area! It should keep the animals nice and toasty! I'll post a picture later.

Staying in shape during winter

I miss warmer weather for the simple fact that I was able to get outside and do something. I drive home, and really miss all the fun I had biking. What do you do to stay in shape during the winter? I really need some good ideas!

I need your prayers and encouragement

Tomorrow I have a colonoscopy to try to figure out why my stomach hurts all the time. I can't eat anything today or tomorrow until my appointment is over at 4. I'm worried about how I'm going to do. Please keep me in your prayers! I need to be able to function well enought to take care of the kids. I don't want to get cranky. I HAVE to be able to do this! Tomorrow, I will be going alone and that has me worried too. I've heard this procedure might be painful. I'm also told that the medicine I need to be taking today and tomorrow might make me sick and keep me awake all night. Please pray that it doesn't. I'm pretty nervous. I really need your encouragement! Thank you.

Thursday, 2pm UPDATE: The only thing worse than not being able to eat is making a tasty lunch for the kids, and watching them push it around and not eat it.

Thursday, 6pm UPDATE: I cleaned up the snacks my kids didn't eat, then I made supper that I wouldn't eat. Right now my family is enjoying their dinner. Now I'm cranky.

Friday, 9am UPDATE: Still hungry. Good news - I slept really great last night!

Friday, 4:30pm UPDATE: That was no fun. And when it was all over, I went straight to the vending machine. . . It was broken. Then I went to the cafeteria . . . it was closed due to some virus going around. Then I went to the bathroom and cried in the stall.

Edmonton Trip

I had such a great time! We met up with Krystal and Dave on Sunday night. Then, on Monday, I spent the day at West Edmonton Mall with Jessica and her very cute, little boy. I only wish I had more time to meet up with some more friends! Steph, I really wanted to meet up with you, but time was pretty tight. Hopefully, next time we can meet up!

My very first cavity

I had a dentist appointment yesterday to get my very first filling. I didn't like it. I've never disliked going to the dentist before, but maybe that's because I've only ever had my teeth cleaned. I highly dislike fillings. Is it just me? Is your face supposed to hurt after?

My Wish List

Halloween is over, and everyone is starting to think about Christmas. I have my own wish list, but it has nothing to do with Christmas. My wish list is for our entire city:
  • I want an indoor childrens play center. Like the one at Galaxyland in West Edmonton Mall. I know we have the parentlink center, but I want a place where parents can feel free to sit and relax while their children play.
  • I want more shopping. I want a Jacob store. I want a music store that sells sheet music.
  • I want a better pool. I want a wave pool and a spot for children. Not just a shallow kids pool.
  • I want a splash park, although I think we're getting one with the new energy center.
  • I want a big outdoor area with picnic tables and pathways, an outdoor theatre, and a large park that even toddlers can play on safely.
  • I want a place that rents out paddle boats
  • I want our theatre to serve nachos and hotdogs
  • I want a dollar theatre that plays older movies
  • I want more restaurants. I would love to have Kelseys, Tony Romas and Swiss Chalet. Mostly, I want a Second Cup restaurant so I can have my white hot chocolate more often than twice a year when I'm in the city.

That's all I can think of for now. What would be on your wishlist?

Halloween was a hit!

The kids had lots of fun. We started off with my sister until Trevor was done work. I was worried about the cold, so I put Ethan's snowsuit on underneath of his puppy costume. It was too funny! The costume was so tight, he just looked like a little fat kid that really shouldn't be out asking for candy. He couldn't even walk - I had to carry him. That didn't last for long. We did a couple houses, then went back to my Mom's to wait for Trevor. I fixed his costume so he could walk and we tried again. I was a little nervous about one house on the street that we were trick-or-treating on, but Lindy insisted on going. It was scary. It had the fog, the scary music and tons of scary decorations. Josalind LOVED it! For the rest of the night, she kept asking to find a creepy, scary house. After we went to each decorated house, I asked her if that was a creepy, scary house and she would say, "No, not really."

Big Changes for my Big Kids

This weekend we've been busy. Josalind has been in piano lessons for a few months now and she's doing really well. We got our keyboard back, so I can stop taking her to my mom's house to do her piano practicing. We decided to put the keyboard in her room, and it's working really well there. She wakes up in the morning and practices on her own.

In other big news, Ethan has outgrown his toddler bed. He got a new bed and blankets, but he has insisted on keeping his blankie. He slept on his new big boy bed for the first time last night. He slept until 7:00!!!! It's very exciting. He feels like such a big boy!

Bright and Early

I usually wake up every morning between 5 and 6am. Not willingly, however, my kids get up then. I got up this morning, logged on to Messenger, and there are three other people up too!!! Amber, Shaun, and Joanna - why are you up so early?? So, now it leads me to wonder. Are there other ridiculously early risers out there? What time do you get out of bed in the morning?

My little ladies man!

We were playing at the park today. As we were leaving, two girls started playing on the playground. Ethan stops and points at one of the girls. "A girl!" He grins at me, all dimples. "Another girl!" He runs back to the park. "Hi girls!" And then I had to carry him home. It's so hard to resist a man with dimples.

The Lighthouse

I finally found it! This is the song my Dad sang to me at night, when I was a child. I hum it all the time but only knew a few lines of the song. I finally found the entire song! I'm so excited!

There's a lighthouse on the hillside
that overlooks life's sea.
When I'm tossed it sends out a light
that I might see.
And the light that shines in darkness
now will safely lead me home,
If it wasn't for the lighthouse,
my ship would sail no more.
Everyone that lives around us,
says tear that old lighthouse down,
The big ships don't sail this way anymore,
ain't no use in it standing round.
But then my mind goes back to that stormy night,
when just in time I saw the light
With the light from that old lighthouse,
that stands up there on the hill.
And I thank God for The Lighthouse.
I owe my life to Him
Jesus is The Lighthouse
and from the rocks of sin
He has shown the light all around me
so that I might clearly see.
If it wasn't for The Lighthouse,
Where would this ship be?

Mommy, my Girl

Every morning I greet my kids with "Lindy, my girl!" and "Ethan, my boy!". This morning Ethan greeted me with "Mommy, my girl!". I just melted.

Nothing too exciting

I've got nothing new to report. We're just getting into the swing of things. Lindy has piano lessons tonight. I've been pricing clothes for the baby sale. Trevor is off at school again. I'll update as soon as I have something worth talking about.

I can't do this!

I'm so tired! Ethan was up all night calling for Trevor. I don't think he understands that Trevor will be back tomorrow. And then we will have to keep saying goodbye every weekend!? How do people live like this???

I miss my husband!

He left for school yesterday and I miss him already. I thought this would be easier but it isn't. I fell asleep without him, I woke up without him, my day has started without him. . . and it's only day one . . . I miss him!

I hope my husband won't be mad. . .

I thought I'd be a great help and mow the lawn. So I did. And it looks great! Then I was feeling brave and thought I'd chance the area in front of the house (WAAAY in front of the house, in front of the trees.) Now, my husband has told me before that we can't mow up there because of the sticks and rocks. . . but do I ever listen? Nooooo. . . So I attempted to mow the jungle mess. I'm sure you know where this is going. I broke the lawn mower blade on a big rock. How do you fix a lawnmower? Who do you call to fix a lawnmower? I don't want to tell him I broke the lawnmower! I guess I'll have to cut the grass with scissors from now on.

UPDATE: My husband got home, saw I attempted mowing the lawn, came inside and told me I did a great job. I told him I broke the lawn mower and he said he already knew because I started mowing in the "DO NOT MOW" section of our lawn. He said that it was ok and we would get a new mower blade tomorrow. What a great husband!!!

Shopping for School Clothes

I went looking through Josalind's dresser and most of her clothes are dirt stained or torn from a busy, fun-filled summer. Certainly not clothes I want to send her to school in. Unless, of course, I'm looking for free hand-outs from Cheapers. They might think we're too poor to buy her new clothes. But, the good news, is I'm not buying her new clothes - the government is! I'll be using my child tax money to buy her new school clothes. So, if you see me out and about today, don't get in my way - I'm a woman on a mission!

It's Official

This is just an update from a previous post. I had my MRI and I got the results back. I have been officially diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis. It's nice to have the official diagnosis.

Ethan's Birthday Party!

Ethan had his birthday party yesterday. His birthday isn't for another week, but it worked best to have it yesterday. He got new pajamas, some Cars toys, and a toy vaccuum. He loved his toys. Josalind even got some toys! She's playing with her new Princess Dress-up game right now! But Ethan's favorite present seems to be the balloons from the party. Isn't that how it always goes?

If you give a mouse a cookie

I had a "If you give a mouse a cookie" moment the other night. It all started because we got our internet set up in the living room instead of the bedroom. So I needed a new desk. Then I needed organizers for my new computer space. Then we moved the old desk to the garage. Then we cleaned and vaccuumed the living room and the bedroom. Then we moved the dresser into the empty space left by moving the old desk. . . I think you get the idea. If you give a give a mouse a cookie. . .

Halloween Costumes

Last year Josalind dressed up as Princess Belle but this year she wants a blue Cinderella dress. So, I have now officially started my search for a pretty Cinderella dress. Ethan, on the other hand, was easy. I've already ordered his off Ebay. It's the cutest little puppy costume I have ever seen. What do you think?

Go Me!!!

My husband is REALLY into biking. He bikes to work and back a few times a week. He's even planning his first big overnight bike trip. So, I figured it would be a good idea for me to finally get a bike. I told him and he thought it was a great idea! So, My husband bought me a bike last weekend! I've been biking a few miles a day. Well, today I biked 5 miles!!!! I'm so excited! Lindy rode on the pull-behind kid carrier. She slept for the entire ride!

Another MRI

I don't normally feel claustrophobic in small spaces, but I am when I'm inside the MRI machine. Other than that, the MRI went well, and I'm waiting on the results from my neurologist. This time however, they had to inject me with who knows what medicine halfway through my MRI. The Doctor told me about the injection as I'm waiting in my hospital gown and housecoat. I was getting really nervous about it (my last IV took 8 tries) and telling my husband that I hope my arm doesn't bruise this time. My darling husband (who seems to think he's pretty funny) mentioned that he didn't think the injection would be in my arm. Suddenly, I get this 'deer caught in the headlights' look on my face, as I nervously ask, "What?" He says, "Well, the medicines supposed to get into your brain, right?" Really, this conversation was going NOWHERE good. The doctor comes over with the needle and he gave me the injection. It was in my arm!!! I've never been more thankful to get a needle in my arm! Although, I think they stuck the medicine in the freezer first. I could feel the cold medicine making it's way through every vein in my body. I was shivering and shaking. And then it was time for the MRI. "Don't move" they tell me. Right, I'm freezing under my skin and they tell me don't move! After we left, my husband took me out for a white hot chocolate from Second Cup when we were done. He's a good one.

This is why hairdressers hate me.

So, I'd love to say this is the first time I've ever accidently given one of my kids a bad haircut - but I think I've given more bad hair cuts than half-decent looking ones. So, last night I noticed Ethan's hair was getting too long again and it was time to chance another haircut. I grabbed the electric shaver and put on the easy guard. You know, it goes on the shaver to keep from ruining a haircut. You'd think even I wouldn't be able to mess it up. . . But I did. There were the hairs on the back of his neck, and I thought they were looking a little too long. . . so I took the shaver guard off the shaver. And then I had lots of little bald spots on the back of his head. So then I tried to fix it. After a while, it looked so bad, I decided to just shave his entire head bald. Did you know that it's impossible to get all the hair the same length without the shaver guard? Poor little guy is NOT allowed out in public without a hat on at all times. At least until his hair grows back.
...And I once wanted to be a hairdresser. Maybe later, I'll tell you about the time I tried to layer Lindy's hair with that same electric shaver. . .

Open Mouth, Insert Foot

It doesn't seem to matter how hard I try, I always seem to open my mouth and say the most embarassing things. And then I keep talking and it gets so much worse. And then I spend months going over it in my head and wishing that, for once, I just kept my mouth shut! Well, yesterday I finally found someone else who seems to have this same foot in mouth disease as me. And her name is Debbie Matenopoulos. I was watching The View yesterday morning and on comes yet another perfect celebrity blonde. But she was different. She was quirky and she said ALL the wrong things. And then she kept talking, and then it just got worse. And all I could think is she's going to regret this when she stops talking. And I just felt for her. I felt for her because I've been there so many times before. And I couldn't take my eyes off that TV screen. I just wanted to sit and watch the trainwreck and just enjoy that for once, it wasn't me. Here's a little bit of how it started, but it was so much more:

Hot Topics took a slightly darker turn when Barbara asked her how she'd managed to stay so thin. Matenopoulos answered, "I don't eat, Barbara."

I think we oughta start a club. How many people do you need to start a club? Do you think she'd join the Foot-in-Mouth club? I wonder if she too spends her time regretting what comes out of her mouth. We definitely need a club. I think I've found my calling.

My husband should be a superhero

Why, You ask? Well, my number one reason that my husband should be a superhero is because he has a superhero body. Super huge shoulders, and pants that my little sister could only hope to fit. But after thinking this through rather thouroughly, I thought that I needed to come up with a better reason to send my handsome spandex yeilding superhero husband out to save the damsels and defeat the bad guys. But, I couldn't come up with anything. I'd like to keep my husband and his superhero underwear here at home with me. So, sorry to all the damsels that are in need of saving, and the cities in great peril, but I'm too selfish to share my husband and his superhuman powers. Go find your own superhero.

At least I can leave you with this:

DISADVANTAGES OF A GIRL WONDER
She's always holding slumber parties in the Crimecave. She insists on having at least a dozen different costumes to wear. She won't fight crime if she's waiting for a phonecall. If you receive an emergency call at 2am and he hair is in curlers - forget it! Her approach to fighting supervillians tends to be strictly limited to pulling his hair, slapping his face or hitting him with a shoe. She won't watch your back in combat if you failed to notice her new hair style.

I need a haircut in the worst way. My hair is so long, there's nothing I can do with it anymore. Where do you get your hair cut? Any recommendations? I don't know who I should go to.

Pierce Lake

We had so much fun yesterday. We went out to Pierce Lake and enjoyed the beach to ourselves. I couldn't believe no one else was there! Don't let the clouds in the picture fool you - it was hot and sunny. The kids had so much fun! And I enjoyed relaxing on the beach.

After the beach, Trevor and Ethan went home for a nap while Josalind and I ran into town to rent a steam cleaner. We walked around the mall for a bit and had such a nice little chat.

We got a lot accomplished once I got the steam cleaner home. We got the house steam cleaned, Trevor and I vacuumed out our vehicles, I put the kids carseat covers through the wash, and the kids and I washed ALL their toys. It always feels so great to get so much accomplished.

In other exciting news, I'M BACK TO WORK TODAY!!! I'll let you know how it goes!

Celebrity Wedding

Lavigne Weds Whibley of Sum 41

Punk-pop princess Avril Lavigne has married a fellow Canadian singer-songwriter, according to published reports. Lavigne married Deryck Whibley, the guitarist and front man for the band Sum 41, on Saturday, at a private estate near Santa Barbara, People magazine reported on its Web site.

The young rockers had a mostly traditional ceremony, the magazine said.

The usually shabby Lavigne wore a Vera Wang gown, carried white roses and was walked down the aisle by her father as Mendelssohn's "Wedding March" played.

Lavigne, 21, and Whibley, 26, exchanged vows under an awning covered in white flowers.

I think it's so cute. I'll bet it was a beautiful wedding. I know most of the time celebrity weddings don't last, but weddings are just so exciting!

Oprah's Debt Diet

Has anyone been watching this? I'm totally getting into this! They have so many tips and hints that I'm going to do! For instance, paying ONLY WITH CASH. I'm going to put away my debit card and my credit card. I don't know how I'll do because I am a shopaholic! I find at the end of the month, I've spent all my spare money and I have nothing to show for it. Mostly on impulse buys - like that candy bar at the checkout or a hot chocolate from Timmies. I'll keep you posted on whether I can do it without cheating. Is anyone else a shopaholic? Could you live without your cards?

Moving my space

I LOVE the setup on msn spaces, but very few people can actually comment there, so I'm moving. This will be my new space, so please be patient with me while I try to figure this place out. Thanx!
